Spaceman cashout explained
A Spaceman cashout takes a bet, or half of it, out of the round and pays that amount multiplied by the multiplier at which the cashout is settled. The Game Help describes four controls: two manual buttons, CASHOUT and CASHOUT 50%, and two preset options, AUTO CASHOUT and 50% AUTO CASHOUT.
Key takeaways
- A manual click is a payout request: the Game Help says it is settled at the actual multiplier when the game server processes it, provided the round has not ended.
- The manual buttons are subject to connection delays, usually around 100–200 ms according to the Game Help, so the settled multiplier can differ from the one on screen at the click.
- Per the Game Help, the crash multiplier itself is payable only through AUTO CASHOUT or 50% AUTO CASHOUT, which pay at the exact preset value; a manual click cannot be settled at it.
The four Spaceman cashout controls
The table summarizes what the Game Help (version 1.7) says about each control.
| Control | When it is set | What it settles | Multiplier used |
|---|---|---|---|
| CASHOUT | By a click during the round | All of the bet still in the game | The actual multiplier when the game server processes the request |
| CASHOUT 50% | By a click during the round | Half of the bet; the other half stays in play | The actual multiplier when the game server processes the request |
| AUTO CASHOUT | Switched on during betting time, before the round starts | The bet still in the game when the preset value is reached | The exact preset value, from 1.01x to 4999.99x |
| 50% AUTO CASHOUT | Switched on during betting time, before the round starts | Half of the bet; the other half stays in play | The exact preset value, which must be lower than the AUTO CASHOUT value when both are on |
A stake of 10 units cashed out in full at 2.50x returns 25 units: the stake plus 15 units of winnings.
How a bet gets to that point, from betting time through BETS CLOSED to the multiplier starting at 1.00x, is covered in how a Spaceman round works.
How a manual cashout is settled
A click on CASHOUT or CASHOUT 50% does not freeze the multiplier shown on screen. The Game Help describes the click as a payout request, and the sequence runs like this:
- The click The player presses CASHOUT or CASHOUT 50% while the multiplier is rising.
- The request A payout request travels to the game server. The Game Help notes that real-time actions are subject to delays that depend on the internet connection, usually around 100–200 ms.
- The check The server processes the request. If the round has already ended by then, there is nothing left to cash out.
- The settlement If the round has not ended, the win is settled at the actual multiplier at the moment the server processed the request.
The settled multiplier is therefore the server’s figure, not the one the player was looking at when clicking. The gap between the two comes from the latency of the connection.
A worked example
Suppose a stake of 10 units is in play and the player clicks CASHOUT as the display passes 2.40x. If the server processes the request when the multiplier stands at 2.42x, the payout is 24.20 units.
If the round ends at 2.41x before the request is processed, there is no cashout and the 10 units are lost.
These figures are illustrative: the Game Help does not publish how far the multiplier moves during the delay. It does say that the multiplier grows slowly at first and increasingly faster as it rises, so the same fraction of a second covers a larger change in the multiplier late in a round than early in one.
Partial and preset cashouts in brief
CASHOUT 50% secures the win on half of the bet at the server-validated multiplier and leaves the other half in play. The remaining half then has to be cashed out with CASHOUT before the round ends, or it is lost. A worked example and the effect on variance are on the page about the 50% cashout.
AUTO CASHOUT and 50% AUTO CASHOUT pay at the exact value the player set, including when that value is the multiplier at which the round ends. The Game Help notes that the crash multiplier is payable only through these auto options, not by a manual click. The settings, and a round that ends exactly at a preset value, are worked through under auto cashout.
Presetting a value takes the connection delay out of the settlement. It does not make a round more or less likely to reach that value. Under the multiplier model, which is a model and not Pragmatic Play’s published internals, the long-run expected return equals the RTP (return to player) at every cashout point. Cashout timing in crash games covers that decision in general terms, and the Spaceman strategy page examines the named approaches built around these controls.
What happens to a bet that is not cashed out
When the round ends, the Game Help says, any amount not cashed out by then is lost.
Two special cases sit at the ends of the range: a round that ends at 1.00x loses every bet placed in it, and a round that reaches 5000x pays all bets still in the game automatically. Both are explained on the Spaceman multiplier page. The maximum payout and the policy on dropped connections are set out in the Spaceman rules.
