Spaceman
The Spaceman multiplier explained
The Spaceman multiplier starts every round at 1.00x and rises to a random, predetermined value at which the round ends; a cashout pays the stake times the multiplier at which it is settled. According to the Game Help, the maximum is 5000x, with a payout cap of €500,000 or its currency equivalent.
Key takeaways
- If a round ends at 1.00x, all bets placed in that round are lost, and no auto cashout covers it: the lowest setting is 1.01x.
- There is no crash at 5000x. The Game Help says reaching it pays every bet still in the game automatically, which is why the auto cashout range stops at 4999.99x.
- The maximum payout is 4,999:1 or the currency equivalent of €500,000, whichever is reached first; by our arithmetic the cap is reached before 5000x for any stake above €100.
- The Game Help gives no frequency for any multiplier, 1.00x included, and no distribution of end values; frequencies quoted for Spaceman elsewhere are not published figures.
What the Spaceman multiplier is
The multiplier is the number that rises during a Spaceman round. It shows how many times the stake a cashout would pay at that moment.
payout = stake × multiplier at which the cashout is settled
A €10 stake cashed out at 2.50x pays €25.00: the €10 stake plus €15 of winnings. The same stake cashed out at 1.20x pays €12.00.
The payout includes the stake. That fits the way the Game Help pairs the maximum multiplier, 5000x, with odds of 4,999:1: winnings of 4,999 times the stake, plus the stake itself.
Which multiplier a cashout is settled at depends on whether it is a manual click or a preset value; the Spaceman cashout page explains the difference.
From 1.00x upward: how the multiplier moves
Every round starts at 1.00x. According to the Game Help, the multiplier grows slowly at first and increasingly faster as it goes higher, up to a random, predetermined value at which the round ends.
- 1cashout at 3.00x
- 2round ends at 8.00x
Because the end value is predetermined, nothing a player does during the round changes it. The Game Help publishes no figures for how fast the multiplier climbs or how long a round lasts; the sequence of events from betting time to settlement is covered in how a Spaceman round works.
When a round ends at 1.00x
The end value can be 1.00x itself. In that case, the Game Help states, all bets placed in the round are lost.
No auto cashout setting covers such a round, because the lowest value that can be set is 1.01x.
The genre’s name for a round like this is an instant crash. The Game Help gives no figure for how often Spaceman rounds end at 1.00x, so this site publishes none.
The 5000x maximum multiplier
The Game Help sets Spaceman’s maximum multiplier at 5000x and says there is no crash at that value. A round that reaches 5000x pays every bet still in the game automatically, with no action from the player.
The Game Help gives this as the reason the auto cashout range stops at 4999.99x.
The maximum payout and the €500,000 cap
The maximum payout stated in the Game Help is 4,999:1 (5000x) or the currency equivalent of €500,000, whichever is reached first.
A stake reaches €500,000 at the multiplier equal to 500,000 divided by the stake. If that multiplier is above 5000x, the multiplier limit comes first; if it is below 5000x, the money cap does.
| Stake | Stake × 5000 | €500,000 is reached at | Limit reached first |
|---|---|---|---|
| €10 | €50,000 | Not reached within 5000x | 5000x maximum |
| €100 | €500,000 | 5000x | Both at the same point |
| €200 | €1,000,000 | 2500.00x | €500,000 cap |
| €500 | €2,500,000 | 1000.00x | €500,000 cap |
The dividing line is a stake of €100, where the two limits coincide. A €200 stake reaches €500,000 at 2500.00x and cannot pay more however much higher the multiplier goes: its maximum payout is €500,000, not the €1,000,000 that 5000x would imply.
The Game Help adds that the game continues after the maximum payout is reached, and gives no further detail on that point.
Keep in mind
The table is in euros. Other currencies use an equivalent amount, whether a stake of a given size is accepted depends on the operator’s bet limits, and operators may set lower payout caps of their own. The Spaceman rules page covers bet limits and the other payout rules.
What is not published, and what a model suggests
Neither the Game Help nor the provider’s March 2022 press release, which calls Spaceman an RNG (random number generator) title, describes the distribution of end values or how often any multiplier is reached. Frequencies quoted for Spaceman elsewhere are therefore not published figures.
What can be offered instead is a model. Under the constant-RTP model, the chance that a round reaches a multiplier x is approximately the RTP (return to player) divided by x. At an assumed RTP of 95.5%, the Game Help figure (sources differ), that puts the chance of reaching 2.00x at 47.75% and of reaching 10.00x at 9.55%. The page on the model has the full table of targets.
These are model values, not Spaceman data, and rounding and the maximum multiplier cause small deviations in any real game. Under the same model the expected return is the same at every target; the target changes only how widely results swing, which is the subject of the page on volatility in crash games.
