Crash game glossary

A crash game glossary of 39 terms used in Spaceman and across the genre, from auto cashout to variance, each defined in plain words. Every entry is sourced where it carries a figure and linked to the page that explains it in full.

Updated · 10 min read

Where an entry gives a rule or figure for Spaceman without naming a source, it comes from the game’s own rules text, Pragmatic Play’s Spaceman Game Help (version 1.7). Figures marked “model”, “our calculation” or “our arithmetic” are this site’s own calculations, not published internals of any game.

For how the genre fits together, start with what a crash game is; for how figures and sources are handled, see the editorial policy.

5

50% cashout
Spaceman’s partial cashout. CASHOUT 50% secures the win on half of the bet at the server-validated multiplier while the other half stays in play; that half must be cashed out with CASHOUT before the round ends or it is lost. Read more

A

Auto cashout
A setting that cashes out a bet automatically when the multiplier reaches a value chosen during betting time. In Spaceman the range is 1.01x to 4999.99x, and the bet is paid at exactly the set value, even when the round ends at that value. Read more
Autoplay
A function that repeats the same bet for a selected number of rounds. In Spaceman, bet and auto cashout settings cannot be changed while it runs; it stops when the count reaches zero, the balance is too low or a configured stop trigger fires. Read more

B

Bankroll
The total amount a person has set aside for gambling, as distinct from the stake placed on a single round. Its size has no effect on a game’s expected return; it only limits how much can be staked before the money runs out. Read more
Bet limits
The minimum and maximum stake accepted for one round. The Spaceman Game Help states no amounts: the limits appear in the Bet Limits indicator next to the game name, depend on the operator and currency, and a bet outside them may be rejected. Read more
Betting time
The window between rounds in which bets can be placed or changed and the auto cashout options set. In Spaceman it is marked by a NEXT GAME IN countdown or WAIT FOR NEXT GAME and ends at BETS CLOSED. The countdown’s length is not published. Read more
Bust
Another word for the crash: the moment the multiplier stops and the round ends. A round that “busts” at 2.50x ended at that value, and anything not cashed out before then is lost. The Spaceman Game Help says “crash”. Read more

C

Cashout
Taking the win on a bet while the multiplier is still rising. In Spaceman a manual CASHOUT is a payout request, settled at the multiplier in force when the game server processes it, provided the round has not already ended. Read more
Client seed
In a provably fair scheme, a value supplied from the player side that is combined with the operator’s server seed to derive a round’s result. Spribe says Aviator’s client seeds come from players; the in-game description says the first three bettors of the round. Read more
Crash game
A game in which a multiplier rises from a starting value until it stops at a random point, and a bet pays only if it is cashed out before that point. Each player bets against the house, not against other players. Read more
Crash point
The multiplier value at which a round ends. It is fixed before the multiplier starts moving: the Spaceman Game Help describes it as a random, predetermined value, and the player’s only decision is when to cash out before it is reached. Read more

D

Demo mode
A version of a game played with practice credits instead of money. Pragmatic Play’s Spaceman page offered one behind an 18+ confirmation as checked on 2 October 2026; availability may vary by country. Whether demo and real-money rounds use the same math is not published. Read more
Deposit limit
A cap a customer sets on how much can be deposited in a period. For operators licensed in Great Britain, UK Gambling Commission standards cover 24-hour, 7-day and 1-month periods; decreases apply immediately and increases only after a cooling-off period of at least 24 hours. Read more

E

Expected value
The long-run average result of a bet per unit staked. With an assumed RTP of 95.5%, each unit staked loses 0.045 units on average (our arithmetic), at every cashout target under the constant-RTP model. Single rounds and sessions can land far from it. Read more

F

Forced cashout
A cashout applied by the game instead of the player. In Spaceman it is one possible settlement under the four-part disconnection policy, shown in History as “Cashout (disconnection)”. When it applies depends on all four parts of that policy. Read more

G

Gambler’s fallacy
The belief that past results make an outcome “due”, such as a high multiplier after a run of low ones. As bustabit’s documentation says, after five losses in a row the chances on the sixth round are what they were on the first. Read more
Game Help
The rules text built into a game. This site cites Pragmatic Play’s Spaceman Game Help, version 1.7, whose change log runs to 10 July 2024; the copy inside the game where it is offered is the authority on RTP and rules. Read more

H

Hash
A string produced from input data by a cryptographic function such as SHA-256. In a provably fair game a hash is typically shown before the round and the underlying value afterward; hashing that value and getting the same string shows the result was not altered. Read more
House edge
The share of stakes the house keeps on average over the long run: 100% minus the RTP. The 95.50% RTP in the Spaceman Game Help implies 4.50% (our arithmetic), but Spaceman’s published figures differ by source. The documented house edge of bustabit is 1%. Read more

I

Instant crash
A round that ends at 1.00x, before the multiplier has moved. In Spaceman all bets in such a round are lost, and the Game Help gives no frequency. For its own game only, bustabit says about 1 round in 50 ends instantly at 1.00x. Read more

L

Latency
The delay between an action on a player’s device and its processing by the game server. The Spaceman Game Help says real-time actions are subject to connection delays, usually around 100–200 ms. Read more
Leaderboard
In Spaceman, a live list of players who bet in the current round, with bet amounts, cashed-out sums, multipliers and winnings. Half-filled indicators mark 50% cashouts, filled ones full cashouts. The Game Help calls it essentially informative; it is not a ranking over time. Read more

M

Martingale
A staking system that doubles the bet after each loss in the hope that one win recovers the earlier losses. It does not alter the house edge. Wang and Pleimling simulated Martingale-type strategies in crash games and concluded they increase gamblers’ risk of huge losses. Read more
Maximum multiplier
The highest value a game’s multiplier can reach. For Spaceman the Game Help gives 5000x: there is no crash at 5000x, and reaching it pays out automatically to all bets still in the game. Spribe publishes no maximum multiplier for Aviator. Read more
Maximum payout
A cap on what one bet can pay. The Spaceman Game Help sets it at 4,999:1 (5000x) or the currency equivalent of €500,000, whichever is reached first; the game continues after it is reached. An operator’s own terms may apply a lower cap. Read more
Multiplier
The number that rises during a round and sets the payout: the stake multiplied by the multiplier at cashout, so a stake of 10 cashed out at 2.50x returns 25. In Spaceman it always starts at 1.00x and grows slowly at first, then increasingly faster. Read more

O

Operator
The business that offers a game to customers, holds their accounts and handles payments, and sets values such as bet limits. This site does not review, recommend or link to operators. Read more

P

Predictor
An app, bot or signal channel claiming to forecast where the next round will end. By our reasoning, none can work when the end point is random and predetermined. Check Point Research documented a fake “Aviator Predictor” in June 2026 whose downloads delivered clipboard-hijacking malware. Read more
Provably fair
A cryptographic commit-and-reveal method that lets a player check that each round’s result was not altered after it was committed. Alone, it does not establish RTP or house edge. For Spaceman, check the information inside the game; the fairness page has the dated record. Read more
Provider
The company that develops a game and distributes it to operators. Spaceman’s provider is Pragmatic Play, which announced the game in March 2022 and writes its Game Help. The provider is not the business a player holds an account with; that is the operator. Read more

R

Reality check
A reminder during play that shows how much time has elapsed. UK Gambling Commission standards for operators licensed in Great Britain cover reality checks and the display of elapsed session time for casino products. Tools offered by operators elsewhere vary. Read more
RNG (random number generator)
The software that produces a game’s random outcomes. Pragmatic Play’s press release calls Spaceman an RNG title, and the Game Help says the crash value is random and predetermined; neither describes the algorithm or the distribution, or names a test lab for Spaceman. Read more
Round
One complete cycle of a crash game: betting time, the multiplier rising from its starting value, any cashouts, and the crash, after which betting for the next round opens. It is a shared event: everyone in it watches the same multiplier and end point. Read more
RTP (return to player)
The share of stakes a game returns on average over a significant number of plays, not each time it is played. Spaceman’s published figures differ by source: a theoretical 95.50% in its Game Help, 95% on Pragmatic Play’s product page (checked 2 October 2026). Read more

S

Self-exclusion
A request to be blocked from gambling for a set period. GAMSTOP is the free national online self-exclusion scheme for Great Britain, with periods of six months, one year or five years; it blocks only operators licensed in Great Britain. Read more
Server seed
In a provably fair scheme, the operator-side secret value generated for a round. According to Spribe, a SHA-256 hash of the next round’s server seed is visible before the round in Aviator, and the seed is combined with client seeds to derive the result. Read more
Stake
The amount placed on one round, also called the bet or wager. A payout includes the stake: a stake of 10 cashed out at 1.50x returns 15, which is a net win of 5. Read more

T

Test lab
An independent laboratory that evaluates games and RNGs against technical standards; the UK Gambling Commission calls them test houses. Pragmatic Play says its RNG is tested and certified by Gaming Laboratories International (GLI), Quinel and Gaming Associates, a portfolio-level statement; we found no Spaceman-specific certificate. Read more

V

Variance
How widely results spread around the expected value. In a crash game it depends on the cashout target: under the constant-RTP model with an assumed RTP of 95.5%, the standard deviation per unit staked is 1.00 at 2.00x and 2.94 at 10.00x (our calculation). Read more
